Dairy Farms
For regenerative, conventional,
biological and organic production.
The Economically Smart,
Climate-Smart Farming Solution
Why Use Biozest on Your Farm?
Biozest increases pasture and ruminant productivity.
Biozest increases milk production and reduces the environmental impact of farming.
Developed, tested and proven on New Zealand farms,
Biozest is manufactured by Zest Biotech and supplied directly to leading farmers across New Zealand.
Biozest Has Been Proven In Trials To:
Increase pasture productivity (Kg dry matter/hectare) by 89-127% and more than double baleage yield.
Increase pasture palatability (kg dry matter consumed)
Improve pasture performance in stress conditions (frost, drought and water-logging).
Lift soluble sugar production to improve ruminant digestion
Increase dairy cow productivity: increased milk volume and milk solids
Increase dairy goat productivity: an additional 31% of milk volume and 33% of milk solids over a full milking season.
Reduce the environmental impact of dairy farming. Both dairy cows (24-36% reduction) and dairy goats excreted lower levels of urea in urine to help cut nitrate leaching and greenhouse gas emissions.
Te Aroha farmer Andrew McGiven describes his experience with Biozest and the impact of Biozest on pasture and milk production.
Andrew and Jenny McGiven milk 500 cows on 182 hectares near Te Aroha.

Dairy Farm Progress Snapshot
This Waikato farm started using Biozest across the whole farm on 20 August 2021.
You can see production very quickly increases from below the previous seasons results to higher than any of the previous 5 years (2020/21 was a record year for this farm).
This graph shows longer term results for the same farm.
Production is 3757kg higher than last season.
The increase in milk solids production translates to increased earnings of $31,600 over the first 4 months of using Biozest.
While most farms in the area are down on last years performance, this farm is over 3% up on last year. This farm will be taking full advantage of the increase in milk price.
How Are These Results Possible?
Farming productivity leapt forward when NKP fertilisers were introduced. Since then, manufacturers have tweaked formulations for further, small increases in productivity. Farmers have got used new products delivering small gains.
But… Technology is moving on. Another Kiwi made technology has increased strawberry yield by 45%
Similar gains are possible in agriculture too but, if we want a leap forward in productivity, we cant just tweak existing products – we need an entirely new technology and that’s what Biozest is (an elicitor of the phenylpropanoid pathway).
Sheep and cattle convert only 25% of pasture carbohydrate and protein to milk and meat 75% is wasted as urea and methane. When efficiency is as low as 25% it is relatively easy to improve efficiency – there is huge scope for improvement.
Biozest helps pasture naturally resist stress and damage and improves pasture growth, quality and resilience. When consumed by ruminants, Biozest treated pasture is more easily converted to valuable meat and milk instead of waste products like urea and greenhouse gases.

Biozest Spray Programme
For all farms 2 initial treatments are required – this kick starts the plant response.
Strategic application programme (dairy):
Apply 2 initial sprays and then only as needed to avoid feed deficits, overcome stress periods such as drought or frost, boost baleage production and generally increase feed quality and quantity.
Typical Strategic programme:
Rate: 1 litre of Biozest (in 20 to 500 litres of water) per hectare.
Initial Treatment: 2 applications 3 to 5 days apart
Follow on treatment: 1 application in spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Additional treatments as required. We highly recommend Biozest for hay/silage production.
Apply 2 sprays before locking up the paddocks. If a second cut will be made, apply another Biozest spray 3-5 days after the first cut.
Dairy pasture (full programme):
For year round improvement to pasture growth and quality and milk/meat production as well as reducing environmental impact, the full programme is recommended.
Rate: 1 litre of Biozest (in 20 to 500 litres of water) per hectare.
Initial Treatment: 2 applications 3 to 5 days apart.
Follow on treatment: 1 application 3 to 10 days after grazing. Please Contact Us if you have any further questions.

User Guidance
Fill sprayer tank with water.
Shake Biozest container several times to reconstitute content.
Add Biozest & rinse container into tank.
Agitate thoroughly before spraying.
Compatibility with additional products must be tested prior to application.
Biozest can be applied using any spray equipment: knapsack sprayers, C-Dax, Tractor, Tow and Fert, Blast Sprayer or Helicopter (water rate may be as low as 20 litres per hectare when applied via helicopter).
The water rate can be varied to suit your spray equipment – the application rate should always be 1 Litre of Biozest per hectare.
Biozest should be applied to pasture that is as dry as possible.
Biozest is effective on contact so it is not a problem if it rains immediately after application.
If the pasture is damp keep the water rate as low as possible.

Farmer Testimonials
-
Mike Walsh, Opunake
“Man alive, did I see some results,
Growth was up to 30kg of dry matter a day, compared with 10kg to 15kg normally.
"The grass just took off. Everything grew, clovers and all. And the cows ate it all, right down and evenly across the paddock - even the urine and dung patches."
-
Jeff Graham, Pukeatua, Waikato.
"Biozest is a good product and it has helped us take our milk production from 33,000kg milk solids to 44,000 with the same number of animals.
The goats processed grass more efficiently and lab tests show urea excretion reduced by 37%"

Stuart Aspin, Taupo
“In combination with a good spring, Biozest helped me to produce an extra 60 tonnes of silage"
It also has animal health benefits because the cows are extracting more from what they were eating.
I used it this year at the start of calving and again midway through calving and I had zero deaths. [It was] such easy calving because of really good animal health.”
